Amy is Nominated for 2 Detroit Music Awards- Last 2 Days to Vote!

I am extremely honored to be nominated for the 2017 Detroit Music Awards!!! 🙂 The Award Ceremony will be on May 5th, 2017 at the Fillmore in Detroit! As many of you know, I won 2 awards in 2004: Outstanding Christian Vocalist and Songwriter. I have since then, received nominations in 2005, 2015, & 2016. This year, I am excited to be nominated with my friend, Catherine Zardus, owner of Magic Carpet Theatre, and a very talented writer/lyricist and actress. This is the first song I have ever recorded with my classical guitar and I love the beautifully mellow sound. I got the Dauphin classical guitar in 1981. I hadn’t played it in a couple of decades and I don’t think I had ever changed the strings, but it was in almost perfect tune! I was afraid to change the strings because it sounded so nice, so I went with it as it was. One string broke the day after the recording! Whew! 🙂

Here are our 2017 nominations…

Outstanding Gospel/Christian Recording

Amy Susan Heard & Catherine Zardus “I feel You, Lord”

Outstanding Gospel/Christian Songwriter

Amy Susan Heard & Catherine Zardus

This song is from our first Magic Carpet Theatre drama ministry CD of one of our shows, “At His Feet, Women In Scripture.” It includes “Amazing Grace,” 3 more original songs, 3 wonderful scenes and 6 meditational readings from scripture. If you are interested in purchasing one, please contact me through my website or my Facebook Page.

If you are a registered voter, please go to Detroit Music Awards and vote by midnight on Sunday, April 23rd. If you have forgotten your user name and password, they will send it to you.

***If you are not registered to vote, but are in any way involved in the Metropolitan Detroit Music Scene, please register. You may not be able to vote this year, but I could sure use your votes next year when my band, Threefold Mercy, will be up for nominations for our new CD, “Long Time,” coming out this summer! :)***

God bless you all and thank you in advance for your support. 🙂

“Love this Wilted Flower,” Amy’s new single, is now on iTunes

Just in time for Valentine’s, Amy’s newest single, a 1940’s-style jazz ballad, “Love this Wilted Flower,” composed by James Stonehouse of Berkley Michigan and lyrically penned by Chicago playwrite, LG Taylor, has been released!

This is the second project released by LG, James and Amy, the first being a touching, theatrical-style single entitled “Dad.” Both of these tunes are intended as part of an upcoming play, by LG Taylor.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed working on both of these projects! Once again, James’ composition seems to fit me like a glove. Time seems to slip away gracefully in this piece, as it does in my own life. There is a constant resistance and release in the rhythm, which resonated with my heart and echoed in my vocal phrasing.” ~ Amy Susan Heard
Step aside “My Funny Valentine.” There’s a new tune in town! Download a copy at…

img_0364The second project is a single jazz tune, entitled “Love This Wilted Flower,” beautifully written by my friend, composer James Stonehouse (music) and my new friend, playwrite LG Taylor (lyrics) from Chicago.

It’s HERE!!! Amy’s new single, “Dad,” is now on iTunes!

Exciting news Everyone! It’s HERE!

My new single, “Dad,” is now up on iTunes and Amazon!

Dad_version 2“Dad” paints a beautiful picture of the imperative role that every father plays in each stage of his child’s life and gives comfort and hope to those who are without a father figure. “Dad” is written from the perspective of a daughter who lost her dad and searched until she found someone to pick up where her Dad left off. She realizes that her Dad was with her the whole time and led her every step of the way.

I can’t help but think of my Heavenly Daddy when I sing this song. God lovingly chose my earthly father before I was even conceived. He carefully planned every detail of that Daddy/Daughter relationship and guided us every step of the way. Through the laughter and tears (and there have been PLENTY of both!), God has been with us all along.

“Dad” is orchestrated beautifully by my brilliant composer friend, James Stonehouse, and the poignant lyrics are written by my new friend, the very talented LG Taylor.

Dad_version 2Music by James Stonehouse and lyrics by LG Taylor.

P.S. Huge hugs to all who supported me with postings, word of mouth and voting in the Detroit Music Awards! I did not take home any awards this year but, as always, it was a great honor to be nominated! It was humbling to be up against the late Ortheia Barnes, who won Outstanding Gospel/Christian Recording and Vocalist. So many incredible musicians lost this year. Heaven must be sounding glorious!
